ImageI/OTM optimizes high resolution image data to improve image capture, reduce storage, speed transition and enhance analysis capabilities
Washington, D.C., May 9, 2002 - Compressus, Inc., a leading provider of data optimization technologies for multimedia applications, today announced the general availability of its ImageI/O product suite and Software Developer Kit (SDK).
Compressus' ImageI/O SDK provides tools designed to be embedded in applications that require high-performance, state-of-the-art data optimization for the acquisition, storage, transmission, viewing, or analysis of high-resolution imagery. Compressus' ImageI/O toolkit preserves data in a lossless state, reduces storage requirements, and eliminates bandwidth bottlenecks. With ImageI/O, users can compress once and then decompress many times at multiple resolutions based on the applications' needs.

The medical imaging, satellite imaging, homeland security and entertainment industries have an unprecedented need to transmit, store and access massive amounts of data, such as digital images, audio and video. However, decade old compression technology alters data as it compresses, resulting in distortion when the data is decompressed. Today, Compressus' ImageI/O technology is built on a lossless compression platform that maintains data integrity while reducing storage capacity needs.

Image I/O is Windows®-based (XP, 2000, or NT) and compiles code using Microsoft® Visual C++® 6.0. ImageI/O Description The core of ImageI/O is its wavelet-based compression algorithms that are embeddable into new and existing applications. It provides optimized data handling for many image types including large geospatial data sets, multi-component color images, and single component medical images (8-bit per pixel and greater). ImageI/O supports both pristine lossless and lossy compression, providing developers with increased flexibility in their image application development needs.
ImageI/O supports compression in a JPEG2000-compliant format. In addition, it is designed to be extensible so that developers can easily support any additional formats.
